Famous Menage et Trois

I've been doing a little research on the subject of menages recently.

Are they fantasy or reality?

Did you know that there have been some very famous menage a trois in history?

Take Sir William Hamilton, Emma Hamilton and Horatio Nelson.

In the 18th Century a famous menage a trois transpired between Georgina the Duchess of Devonshire, and the Duke of Devonshire who installed Lady Beth Foster into the household. Their affair was most famously portrayed in the acclaimed film "Duchess."

The Author E. Nesbitt lived with her husband Hubert Bland and his mistress Alice Hoatson, raising their children as her own.

Now, I'm seeing a pattern here. Do you think these are real menage a trois? Or are the partners involved just accepting the affairs of their loved one, and not actually participating in a real life menage a trois?

That is so fascinating about E. Nesbit! She was one of my favorite authors growing up, and I had no idea about her personal life

The actress Tilda Swinton lives with her older husband and her much younger lover. They're quite public about their "menage," although not about what goes on in the bedroom. ;-)

Thanks for the history lesson!!

Hi, Juniper

Yes, it all boils down to that one question. What exactly happens in the bedroom?

Thanks for commenting.

Hi Kayla, good question. I'm of the belief there are more menages happening than we are aware of... simply because in these times, it's been socially unacceptable.

I think you're right, Savanna.

It would be interesting to know the statistics.
